'No-Cost' Website Changes You Can Make Today To Entice More Potential Clients To Call

Here’s a scary fact:

A few years back, I surveyed 400 attorneys to find out if they owned their domain name.

90% of them said they weren’t sure.

What’s so scary about this?

Well, let’s say you don’t own your domain name. Instead, it’s owned by your SEO or marketing company, or your web guy. Then, let’s say the SEO company or web guy’s business folds, or they disappear without a trace for whatever reason. (This happens far more often than you might think.)

Do you know what the repercussions would be?

Your domain name could lapse, and you could see all of your website traffic vanish into digital thin air overnight.

Without a thorough contingency plan, this would cripple most attorneys.

Because, the reality is, every law firm owns and depends on many digital assets in today’s day and age. They may not be tangible assets, but even though they can’t be seen or felt, they are every bit as vital as the physical bricks and mortar or your office.

This means losing control of these assets can be just a devastating as losing your physical office.

So as a safeguard, every attorney should keep an up-to-date register that lists every one of their important digital assets. They should also verify who actually owns these digital assets and, if they’re owned by a separate company, they should take back ownership as soon as possible.

Domains are just one of many critical digital assets that need to be secured.

There are dozens of others, and the disruption of any one of them can wreak havoc – especially if they are under the control of another entity who defaults on their responsibilities.

If you aren’t sure which are most important to your firm, I detail all of them in my Secrets of Attorney Marketing book. I also share practical steps for securing ownership if you do happen to lose control of them.
