Negative reviews sometimes sting a little. But, they happen to the best of us. Why? Because, no matter how careful and skilled you are – a few feathers are going to get ruffled over the years. It’s part of the price we pay for success. Be that as it may, it’s still a royal pain in the hindquarters – especially when the negative review is total B.S.

The worst part is: Even if the negative review is clearly irrational, Internet companies tend to favor “the consumer.” It’s a shame. Unfortunately, there’s not a whole lot you can do to eliminate unfavorable mentions on the web.

Complainers will be complainers, kooks will be kooks, and liars will be liars. However, that doesn’t mean you can’t protect your firm. Quite the contrary.

You may not be able to avoid them altogether – but you can do something even better: You can neutralize them. How? By systematically collecting a lot of stellar reviews. Because, when the majority of your reviews are positive, the harsh ones lose their power.

Better yet, if you have a reliable system in place that brings in great reviews on a consistent and predictable basis – then two excellent things inevitably happen:

(1) Bad reviews get buried deep under the mountain of positive reviews.

(2) The ever-expanding list of positive reviews increases your credibility steadily over time.

Ultimately, the more positive reviews you have out there, the more legit you appear to potentials.

The more legit you appear, the more (and higher-quality) clients you will be able to attract.

And, the more high-quality clients you work with, the more positive reviews you can gather. It’s a self-perpetuating cycle. But, what if an attorney’s client base is still relatively small? That’s no big deal.

Because, whether you have a handful of clients, or more than you can handle – the process of systematically collecting positive reviews is the same. Best of all, you can automate the whole thing so the positive reviews will keep stacking up – even while you’re busy with other important matters.
